It turns out to reset everyone to 0 a lot more work is needed, SO...

We are going to attempt to implement a new calculation routine for the Stock Game starting in November!

This new calculation method should be more accurate. You can take a look here for examples of how it will take place:

We are also considering, since this is a learning forum, that everyones holdings will be viewable in your profile.

That way you can really see whats going on, what seems to work and not, and those that don't post still can contribute to the community.

It'll add a lot to the site. You see someone up 1X% and can see what they did to get there. Or find the guy down 40% and see what the heck could have caused that!

Maybe if you want to keep your profile hidden you can pay e$.

I'm going to get this done for the 1st though so my first goal is to make it work. Then we can try to add stuff to make it better.

Well, I really thought the new calculation wasn't going to happen till the end of this year, BUT

    It's starting November 1st!

Keep your fingers crossed, we think we finally have it right!

    2 Questions:

    1) Your scenarios don't include commissions. Could you show how commissions would affect those sample scenarios?

    2) Can you get the samples to fit a little better?? it's so wide I have to keep scrolling left and right to read them all.

    Thanks,

    -Walter

Bejamin - Is the beginning of month stock price the price for calculations for the month - or is it the original purchase price?

I think for the current process it's based on the portfolio value (not individual stock prices) as of the beginning of the month.
