I want to know what the virtual store is for? I used some e$ and bought an ipod earlier today, but I am not sure what that does for me. I see that it comes up in my inventory, and that i can donate it to people, but what does it do? What do i do with it?

Items like iPods and Playstations are just there for your amusement. They have no functioning purpose (yet, at least), other than to show off.

Certain things (property and collectables) earn a rather healthy rate of return. Property returns 4% a month  and collectables earn 3%. You'll see a lot of folks that park spare cash in those two categories as a result.

On occasion there are "special" items that show up in the store as well.
